Should Fireworks Be Banned? | The Student Pocket Guide
by Alex Paton

Bonfire night is fast approaching. With toffee apples and sparklers at the ready, many will be braving the Autumn chill to attend firework shows either at home or at larger events…

But not everyone is happy with the annual night of fiery fun. For some, fireworks are a massive issue; dangerous explosives which can damage property and cause distress to pets and people.

Although fireworks can be used in a controlled manner, there is always the possibility of accidents. In addition to this, there are those who purposefully choose to endanger others when igniting them.

Is it time to ban fireworks entirely? Or should the colourful rockets, fountains and Catherine Wheels which give so many people enjoyment be allowed to stay?
