Commonwealth Games Update by Georgina Rowe

The Commonwealth Games 2014 have been storming the news over the past few weeks, but they’re already beginning to come to a close.

England have been doing extremely well this year, currently leading the medals table. The most medals won by Team England so far has been in swimming, where we’ve scored a whopping 28 medals! This includes 6 won by Siobhan O’Connor (aged only 18!) and 4 by Francesca Hall, as well as many other fantastic competitors.

Team England have also won:

16 medals for athletics
15 medals for Shooting
13 medals each for gymnastics and judo
11 medals for cycling
7 medals for diving
5 medals each for bowls, triatholon and wrestling
4 medals for squash
2 for weightlifting
1 medal each for badminton and table tennis.

We wish Team England the best of luck for the rest of the Commonwealth Games,
which run until August 3rd 2014.
