Summer, as exciting as it is, can be a dull and expensive prospect. You no longer have your student loan. Some of you may have summer jobs, which means that you won’t have much of a break anyway and for a majority, the fun things that you want to do cost a heck of a lot of money, which your pockets simply can’t stretch to.
It’s a tricky situation to be in. No money. Nothing to do. It Can leave one’s mind in a bit of a pickle. But have no fear! Summer doesn’t have to be expensive. Believe it or not, not spending money and having fun is an absolute perfect match for all. So here are some tips and tricks for having a fantastic summer, without spending a bean…
Go to the beach!The great British beaches have more to offer than the white sand, turquoise waters of Barbados. We have rock pools! Crab fishing is seriously fun! And yes, the water may be a bit chilly, but nothing a barbecue and a couple of beers won’t fix afterwards.
Get down the parks!Take a Frisbee. Take the dog. Have a picnic. Be the big kid that you are and get yourself on the slide! There are hours of fun right there.
Go to a free live music event!Keep a look out on your local news site or different Facebook events. There’s always free live music and open mic events!
Have a camp out in your back garden! This is ridiculously fun…as long as you don’t annoy your neighbours with the noise. Have a mini Glastonbury event in your garden! Get the fairy lights out, the music on, drinks, food. Get people to bring their own food to have a buffet.
Go fruit picking! Sounds a litter lame to some, but it’s great fun and very rewarding.
Window shop. Go into super expensive shops and try on things that you would never be able to buy. This may be depressing for some but it can be a lot of fun!
Have a board game night! Crack open the old board games you’ve had for years. Maybe even change the rules of them a bit. Put dares on your Jenga bricks for a more exhilarating game of Jenga!
Make a YouTube channel! Whether you and your friends will be the next musical sensation or the next Zoella, it’s free and who knows, could make you famous!
The possibilities are endless this summer. Whether you have money or not, you are guaranteed to have summer 2015 as the best summer yet!
