Never heard of National Upcycling Day? That would be because it didn’t exist until very recently! This is the first time it’s ever been celebrated. As this week is National Recycling Week, Gumtree wanted to started the initiative to acknowledge the creativity and individuality of upcyclers.

Upcycling is becoming increasingly popular. Not only is it good for the environment, but it also means we can save a lot of money too! Plus, you can create something really unique that simply cannot be bought in the shops. Oh and not to mention… you’ll soon discover that it’s super fun!

Don’t worry, you certainly don’t need to be the next Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, or a DIY expert in order to achieve some pretty fabulous results. It may not go according to plan the first time round, but hey, if you bought it cheap in the first place, it doesn’t matter too much and you can always try again. Perhaps you can rope in one of your arty Uni friends to help you out?
