As Freshers’ week’s come to a close all over the country, students will be looking back into the drunken mist of the compiled memories as the best days in their lives, however, it’s more than likely that a lot of them would have been struck down by the dreaded ‘Freshers’ Flu’ and are still trying to combat the symptoms of the horrid illness today.

No matter where you are and if you did or didn’t get on the lash, you’re still going to see the majority of your lecture hall coughing and spluttering, and with that, you could be at the forefront of catching the cold. We reckon that Freshers’ flu affects about ninety percent of the student population at some point in their lives, so here are a few points on how to fight it off…

Detox…
Take a break from the booze and stay sober. It’s known that alcohol actually lowers your immune system and makes it easier for them pesky germs to jump on board to get you down. Your pals may tell you that spirits burn away the demons, but that is more than a myth, and by trying to drink the pain away, you’re only going to make yourself worse. Swap bottles of beer, for a crisp, cold water, and hit the heated honey and lemon to break down any mucus as well. A healthy diet will also make your body right as rain too, so (we know it can be hard) try to eat all the good stuff and stock up on the nutrients.

Lazy is the way forward…
This is the only time that it is genuinely acceptable to be slack and relaxed, as any strenuous activity will make you feel weaker than you already are. No longer do you have to get yourself down in remorse because you’ve done nothing, as chilling out in bed is a vital step on the road to recovery. By being lazy, we’re not saying don’t attend lectures and seminars, but we’re simply telling you not to hit the gym and bust out one hundred squats in ten minutes. Flick on Netflix, cook some good grub and remember to wash; you’ll be fine in no time.

Blow your nose!
Believe it or not, this is one of the most crucial steps in order to be healthy again. As soon as you get a tickle of the slightest bit of snot in your nose, blow it out! If you don’t do this, the thick, slimy badness will bulk in your throat and on your chest, causing hard breathing and excessive coughing, and on some instances, infection. Get rid of it before it doubles your sickness and be sure to bin the dirty tissues!

Clean Machine…
Like we said previous, get rid of the bogey filled snot rags for a start, as leaving these lying around could cause other people to get ill and equal a never ending cycle of disease. Not only that, but wash your hands regularly and be sure to scrub so that again, you cut short the risk of spreading Freshers’ Flu. Another way to make yourself feel a million dollars is by setting up a beautifully hot, steaming shower. By doing this, you open up all your pores and sweat the bad stuff, ridding your person of the germs even quicker; what’s more, you ooze refreshment and cleanliness too.
