For many travel-loving students, money is the only thing holding you back from jetting off around the world on that next flight. And I’ll admit travelling on a student budget can be near impossible sometimes. But fret no more. Here are a few techniques that will help you travel as much as possible whilst still sticking to your student budget.

Alternative Travel Options

Planes are still most peoples go-to when booking transportation for their holiday. But if you’re looking to save money this is not always the best way to do it. Dependent on how much time you have, coach and train travel can make a great alternative to flying. Tickets, especially during peak times, are usually much cheaper in price. Plus you have the option of stopping off in a number of places on your way to your final destination too.

Have a Stay-Cation

Who’s to say that you have to go abroad to call yourself a traveller? The UK has a whole host of great places to visit and it’s definitely a student friendly way to still keep travelling whilst at university. And if you visit locations where you friends are studying you’ve got yourself some free accommodation sorted too.

Volunteer Abroad

Another great way to travel a lot on a student budget is to volunteer abroad. Many places offer their volunteers free accommodation and meals in exchange for their services, which is a great way to save money. It also looks brilliant on your CV and turns your travelling into an even more worthwhile experience.

Plan Ahead

This is a great travel tip whether you are on a budget or not. It’s usually beneficial to book transport and accommodation ahead of time, as you’ll be able to get some great deals. Leaving it until the last minute leaves you running the risk of having to check into an expensive hotel, which your budget would definitely not thank you for. Knowing the cheapest places to eat and drink in your chosen destination is also handy too. The money you save by taking these tips into account can go towards that tour you wanted to do or that next trip you intend on taking.

These are just a few tips that can help you travel a lot whilst on a student budget. Have any of the above helped you on your travels? Or do you have any advice not mentioned that you would like to share? Please do let us know.
