With winter coming it’s time to wrap up warm and get out the scarfs and hats! I have made a list of ten wardrobe must-haves for the autumn and winter months which are great if you are short on cash! It includes essential items that you should own and ways to revamp old clothes.

1. Loafers
These shoes are perfect for autumn. The menswear inspired shoes give an edge to any outfit. If you haven’t got the money to go out and buy a new pair of loafers find an old or cheap pair of strong looking dolly shoes and attach a broach to the top. You can find broach’s in charity shops for as little as 50p. This way you can save a heap of cash and rejuvenate an old pair of shoes.

2. Gingham Skirt
Gingham is a classic for the colder seasons which can also mean clothing with this print can be more expensive. However, I found this great alternative. You can revamp an old black skirt by finding a large flowy gingham scarf or  by using gingham material (this can be found in any fabric store or Primark). By fixing it with a thin black belt you can completely transform any old piece of clothing.

3. Body Chain
Body chains are normally associated with the festival season but there is no reason not to carry on this trend into autumn. By adding a gold body chain to a casual outfit you can turn it into alternative evening wear. A black body con sweater dress, a fitted jacket and a body chain is a match made in heaven.

4. Striped Shirt
This is a classic staple in any wardrobe, pair with a party skirt or blue jeans and you have an outfit with effortless elegance.

5. Sweater Dress
You can find oversized sweaters for pennies in charity shops. Avoid jumpers that are thick as they won’t sit correctly. You can pair the jumper with a pair of tights, lace up boots and bowler hat.

6. Bobble Hat
This is a classic for winter. Try a bright colour to contrast with the common brown and blacks you find during autumn. Wear with tousled curls for a comfy but fashionable look.

7. Sparkly Tights
This choice is for the brave as it is quite daring, but when done correctly can look incredible! The option is cheaper than leggings or jeans and can add a seasonal twist to any evening outfit.

8. Bold Lip
Keeping the make-up simple apart from having a pop of colour on the lip can complete transform any outfit. A dark red or purple can add sexiness to the most casual attire.

9. Ankle Boots
Ankle boots are easier to wear than thigh or knee high boots and you can dress them down or up. I’d avoid any suede as they are hard to care for and boots can be expensive.

10. Statement Rings
Several statement rings adds a boho twist and can be worn with multiple outfits. You can find all different types of rings in charity shops.
