I love nights out as much as the next person, I really do, but sometimes, the whole process of preparing yourself for one is just too much and can be off-putting. Yes, there are times when I don’t really fancy dressing up. Or bearing the cold because I’ve somehow managed to convince myself that all I need is a beer coat and nothing else.

Maybe it’s because I’m half-way through my degree, or maybe it’s just because I’m getting too old for this. Nevertheless, there are other things that are better than going on a night out!

Binge watching series or reality TV shows.

You can finally catch up on or start watching that series you’ve been dying to watch for a while. A nice cuppa, warm sheets and Netflix? Yes please!

Making a playlist, putting it on repeat and dancing.

Abodus - Live until 29th Sep 24

Nobody’s watching you anyway, so you can go ahead and let loose without having to worry about spilling your drink onto someone else or bumping into another person on the dance floor. Plus, you get to be in control of the music you can dance to! Isn’t that so much better?

Playing board games with your flatmates or housemates.

A game of Monopoly, Scrabble or Taboo will definitely help you and your flatmates or housemates bond! What’s not to like about that? At least you can remember all the inside jokes you’re bound to have after a game or two!

Going on a spontaneous trip.

Because sometimes, one of the best moments in your life happen when you don’t plan them.

Staying in your pyjamas.

No need to get all dolled up because you’re not going anywhere anyway. At least you’re comfortable and, most importantly, don’t have to worry about some drunken mess spilling their double vodka and coke on your outfit.

Ordering takeaway and eating it in bed.

Two of quite possibly the best things in life – food and bed. What other combination would you want on a Friday night?!

Catching up with friends from back home.

Which can only mean one thing – gossip! You can also vent about that girl or guy on your course who annoys the living daylights out of you.

Playing video games.

It’s such a fun and easy way to de-stress after a long, boring day. Feel free to shout at the telly if you can’t get past a certain level! No one will judge you (we know we won’t!).

Going online shopping.

Even if you don’t buy anything, looking through different online shops can definitely inspire you and your next #OOTD. Plus, you’ll be in the know of the latest fashion trends out there!

You can treat yourself to something.

…without feeling guilty about it because you obviously didn’t spend a single penny. Also, isn’t it a nice feeling knowing that you won’t live off of toast and pot noodles for the rest of the month?

Not having to deal with an ungodly hangover the next day.

Let’s not forget this! At least you’ll wake up at a reasonable hour, ready for a productive day ahead (or not), without a throbbing pain in your head reminding you that you had far too much to drink last night.
