Future Talent Awards

We’ve all been there: 2 hour train ride left, the screen is as black as my soul and you’re wondering how the flip to kill time. Read a newspaper? What is this, the 1800s?

1) Tell a story.

Look at the people in the carriage around you. What are they doing? Where are they going? Why?

Create a narrative about how all of these people are connected. Are they working a long term con? Planning a diamond heist? Is that fat man with a beard, on his 8th can of Stella, actually a deep cover agent about to blow this whole thing sky high?

2) Make a list.

Abodus - Live until 29th Sep 24

Make a mental list of all the things you want to do when you get to where you’re going. Who do you want to meet? What do you want to do? Think of all the things you have to look forward to.

3) Look out the window.

That’s why the window is there. Give yourself 10 points for a cow, 20 for a horse and 50 for each animal which doesn’t fall under the above categories. Admittedly. it’s more fun with friends.

4) Sleep.

You probably don’t get enough sleep. Try closing your eyes and having a nap. NOT RECOMMENDED IF YOU THINK YOU WILL MISS YOUR STOP.

5) Noughts and crosses.

This needs a pen, paper, and someone else of play with. Also, hangman and that thing with the squares are classics.

6) Digital detox.

Ok, this is a bit of a cop out, but enjoy the time away from the screen! If it’s not taking notes in lectures, you’re watching Netflix or on your phone. Have some time to relax, re-connect with nature and… Oh, who am I trying to kid; this is rubbish. Next time, bring a charger.
