Future Talent Awards

Actress and singer Olivia Holt stole the hearts of Disney viewers by starring in hit Disney XD TV series’ such as ‘Kickin’ It’ from the start of 2011. This year she’s taken on a new challenge portraying Tandy Bowen (Dagger) in the hit Freeform series ‘Cloak and Dagger’, all along with juggling a budding music career. We had a quick chat with Olivia Holt to discuss her most recent musical collaboration ‘Wrong Move’ with THRDL!FE and R3HAB and her plans for the future…

Q1. Hi Olivia Holt, thanks so much for taking the time to speak to us! How’s everything with you at the minute?

Everything is so good. It’s been quite the year. I’ve been focusing on prioritizing the things in my life that I love. Which has totally changed things for me personally and professionally.

Q2. How would you describe yourself and your sound to anyone who hasn’t heard of you yet?

I’ve always been curious and full of life. I experience things from a very present level. I want people to feel that in my music. I want the track to feel like it’s living and breathing and I want the lyrics to tell a story.

Q3. So, how did the collaboration with THRDL!FE and R3HAB on your latest track ‘Wrong Move’ come about?

Abodus - Live until 29th Sep 24

I heard a demo of the song and instantly fell in love with it. It’s mysterious and sexy and just so effortlessly cool. I’m also a mega fan of THRDL!FE and R3HAB.

Q4. Can you tell us a little bit about the meaning for you behind ‘Wrong Move’?

Wrong Move is like the most relatable song ever. Knowing you shouldn’t be with someone but wanting so badly to be with them,  if you make the move to them it’ll be the wrong one.

Q5. How has the feedback from the track been?

Unreal. People are really digging it and responding to it in such a positive and connected way. That’s why I love making music in the first place. To impact people, to move them, to make them feel like they’re not alone.

Q6. If you could choose to collaborate with any other artist, who would it be?

Choosing one is the ultimate challenge, because there are so many artists I love. However, I’m obsessed with Jess Glynne so I’d have to say hands down a collab with her.

Q7. What’s your ultimate life goal?

To live the life I feel I was meant to live. To tell the stories I was meant to tell. And to never look back. To feel fulfilled in every way I possibly can. Now this could all change tomorrow, but I want to love today like it’s the last.

Q8. Any advice for upcoming actors/singers?

Work hard, but don’t take things so seriously. Enjoy what you do and constantly remind yourself why you do it. Accept the challenging days, but have fun doing what you do and love.

Q9. If you hadn’t have taken the musical and acting route what would you all be doing now?

I really don’t know. I love music and acting. But I think if I weren’t doing either of those I’d probably be somewhere in the gymnastics realm. I was a competitive gymnast for seven years growing up.Olivia Holt

 Q10. Who are your inspirations?

My older sister, Morgan. She’s my hero. Someone who believes so fiercely in herself and others. Someone who fights the fight with love and compassion. It’s so inspiring to watch her do her thing and in such a breathtaking way.

Q11. What are all your plans for the rest of this year?

To continue soaking up as much knowledge as I possibly can and doing what I love. Making music and telling stories and connecting with the world around me.
