Born and bred in South West London, Blaise has been singing and writing from a very young age. At the age of 16, when most teenagers are writing answers on their GCSE exam papers, Blaise is busy writing material for artists around the globe. Her single, ‘Attitude (ft Twizzle)’ is the first track off her up and coming EP which is set to be released early next year. Amrit Pnaiser caught up with her to find out more…

Hi Blaise, thanks for talking to me! First of all, congrats on your new single, you must be excited for the release?
Hiya, yes very excited about my single release!

You’ve been songwriting since you were 8 years old. How did your passion for writing begin and how did you know you wanted to write music?
It’s hard for me to remember a time when I actually just decided that I wanted to give song writing a go, because music has always been a part of my life. It has always been so natural to me and I’ve never had to force it, even when I was young there was nothing that sparked my love for music, it was just always there.

Your single ‘Attitude’ is all about a boy having to be a certain way to be with you. Do you think at your age you should be singing about things like that or do you think that you’re moving with the times and this is what 16 year olds want to hear?
I actually think that people my age are a lot more mature than people think these days. To me, Attitude is quite a young song and it represents a bit of fun. Being a young teen I don’t think anyone should be looking for a serious relationship, just someone to be happy with.

I noticed you have some decent followers on twitter like Justin Beiber and Chris Brown, how did that come about?
I tend to just try my luck and send cheeky tweets to celebrities for a follow and most of the time it ends well! That’s how I got a follow from them, just bya tweet.. Probably a flirty one, haha!

Who’s the most famous person you’ve met and who would you love to work with?
The most famous person I’ve met would have to be Justin Bieber, but that was only briefly. The one person I would loveto meet and work with however, would have to be Bruno Mars. I think he is such a talented songwriter and he has so much soul in his voice, it’s beautiful.

You have a cool swag… Do you follow any trends or stars when choosing your outfits or is it all pretty much your own thing?
Haha, thank you! I try not to follow trends or copy what anyone else is wearing, which is why a lot of the time I put a lot of different styles together. I like to just wear what I feel comfortable in and what I think looks good. I prefer to go with my own opinion over anyone else’s on what to wear because it’s me that’s wearing it!

What advice would you give to other aspiring artists or teens who want to make it big?
I would advise others just by saying always be yourself, try not to focus on what the next person is doing and try not to focus too much on what has been done before you. It’s always a plus to be able to create something new and it creates a buzz about you and gets people interested. People always want something refreshing!

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
I like to think that in 5 years’ time I will have my name known around the world and have a successful album already out. I really just want my music to be heard and to be liked, that’s all!
