No Romeo by Indiana Album – Review by Georgina Rowe
Indiana is the stage name of Nottingham-born singer-songwriter Lauren Henson. On September 1st 2014 she will release her debut album ‘No Romeo’, featuring the hit track ‘Solo Dancing’.
The single ‘Solo Dancing’ was released earlier this year, and it managed to reach number 14 in the UK Singles chart and number 1 in the iTunes Alternative chart. The rest of the album is fairly similar to this track, so if you loved ‘Solo Dancing’ you should check this out!
Full of electro-pop hits-in-the-making, Indiana’s debut album is a mixture of the upbeat and emotional. Ranging from fast-paced ‘Solo Dancing’ to thought-provoking ‘Smoking Gun’ in which the character within the song is ‘tryna hide a smoking gun’ and just wants to ‘kiss and tell’. We’ll let you decide what that means.
“With each song I immersed myself in a role and pushed the boundaries I dared not to in real life,” says Indiana of her song-writing process. “The more I wrote, the more I discovered about myself. What started out as an emotional outlet had turned into my life and with each day I was growing as an artist. The title is a pseudonym I have given to myself. These may appear to be love songs but look closer, chip away from the exterior beauty and reveal an inner darkness. I am no Romeo.”
Indiana will be appearing at some festivals this summer. before going on her UK tour in October.
