The Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Awards (EPSY Awards) were held last night. The idea of the ceremony is to celebrate the sporting achievements of individuals and teams throughout the year and Caitlyn Jenner (formerly Bruce Jenner) deservedly received the Arthur Ashe Courage Award…
Caitlyn Jenner, a former American athlete, won the Arthur Ashe Courage Award last night at the EPSY Awards, after bravely came out as transgender earlier this year during an interview with Diana Sawyer.
This award is given to individuals whose contributions are deemed to have exceeded sport.
The 65-year-old looked beautiful in an elegant white gown and touchingly thanked her family. Through tears, she said, ”The biggest fear I’ve always had in coming out, is I never wanted to hurt anyone else, most of all, my family and kids. I always wanted my children to be so proud of their Dad, for what he was able to accomplish in his life. You guys have given so much back to me, you’ve given me so much support. I am so so grateful to have all of you in my life – thank you.”
