You thought your Uni room was tiny and and overpriced? You’ll be feeling like you have the most spacious room on earth after reading this article…

Alex Lomax, like most of us, went looking for somewhere new to move into online. She discovered an advert that was offering a single furnished room to rent for £500 per month (not including bills).

The 23-year-old decided to take a look so booked a viewing. Alex found herself to be in a bit of a state of shock when she was shown nothing more than a bed under the stairs. Literally, a bed, under the stairs. Nothing else. Harry Potter eat your heart out.

The viewing took place in South London, so I guess Miss Lomax wasn’t exactly expecting much for her money, but perhaps something more than a bed under the stairs would’ve been nice? A bedside table maybe? A wardrobe? A desk? Just the usual things you expect when renting a room.

Although Alex couldn’t have predicted the scenario she found herself in, ironically, the advert does give perspective tenants a bit of a hint. It states that they’re, ‘Not looking for someone that just wants to stay in their room.’ Well, who could possibly stay in that room? And, ‘Room comes with bed.’ Literally, just a bed.

6 hours ago Alex took to twitter and compared the room to Privet Drive – where Harry Potter lived in a cupboard under the stairs. She tweeted, ‘I have literally just been show a bed under the stairs for £500 a month. F you London! #nothanks #privetdrive!?’ Her tweet has since had over 3,500 retweets and nearly 2,000 favourites. tiny room
