Social media can help us get in contact with pretty much anyone nowadays. All it takes is a quick post on Facebook and before you know it, it’s been shared so many times that you’re put in touch with the person you’re looking for. But what if that person isn’t too keen on being found? That’s exactly what happened to one unsuspecting man in Manchester.

It’s all very much like a story from a film. A girl meets a hunky guy on a night out. He’s gorgeous, she chats to him for a bit, they share a cheeky smooch and end up exchanging numbers. The next day, she wakes up to text him only to find that she didn’t save his number correctly.

Finding herself in this situation, Pippa McKinney, 22, shared a Facebook post of herself and the guy, known as Matt on her Facebook newsfeed. She said, ”Met this guy last night absolutely stunning, took this number down wrong but would love to get to see him again! He’s from Whythenshaw and is called Matt, help anyone haha??”

The post was then shared thousands of times on the social networking site and much to Miss MicKinney’s shock, her post well and truly backfired when she discovered Matt actually had a girlfriend, called Emily.

Since the incident, Matt has now broken his silence and posted on his Facebook page, ”This has gone way past a joke I have tried to stay quiet but I think it’s about time people get my side… The Truth! How many times has this story changed!? Fame seeker, a liar and a very strange girl! This is a major set up! Watch this space! #shameforfame.”
