Brighton has it all. A beach, the atmosphere of a bustling city and excellent nightlife. It’s even been referred to as ‘London by the sea’. So if you have a spare day between your studies then head to the seaside for a great day out. And to give you a little helping hand, here are some suggestions on how to spend one day in Brighton.

One thing is for sure, if you’re going to Brighton for the day, a walk along the pier is a must. Take a spin on the Waltzers or savor freshly cooked doughnuts from one of the many food vendors on the pier. Just watch out for seagulls, they’re pretty brave (and enormous) in this area. You should also enjoy a drink in Victoria’s Bar, with its unusual decor and stunning sea views.

For a quirky shopping experience take a stroll around Brighton’s Lanes. It is a haven of independent shops and boutiques. Including the famous Choccywoccydoodah. Whether you choose to just admire the impressive chocolate sculptures or visit the café upstairs, you’ll really be in for a treat. If you’re looking for something a little more substantial to eat I would suggest a visit to one of the Bagelman stores or JB’s American Diner.

During one day in Brighton you must also spend some time at the Royal Pavilion. It was built for King George IV as a seaside retreat and was heavily inspired by oriental designs and architecture. The Pavillion, despite looking out of place compared to the rest of the city, is well worth a visit. Take a tour of the building gardens and estate and really get a feel for this magnificent structure.
