DIY Facial Scrubs

Lets set the scene. You’ve been pretty stressed out recently and wake up one morning to find your face feels disgusting. You look in the mirror and find you’ve had a dreaded overnight breakout. There are spots and blackheads everywhere!
You think to yourself I need to get some exfoliator so you go to the shops to find that there are hundreds of different brands and types on the shelves.
To be honest most of these contain plastic, irritating fragrances and a number of other questionable ingredients which are likely to do more damage to your skin than good.
Why not try to make some face scrubs at home using only natural ingredients?

Tips:
-Before exfoliating your face it’s helpful to place a warm flannel over your face for roughly 5 minutes. This will help to open your pores and will make the exfoliating more successful.
-Whenever using a new skin product it is always wise to do a patch test first. This is just to make sure that you aren’t allergic to the mixture.
-When applying the scrubs rub the products into your skin in circular motions for at least 60 seconds and then pat your face dry with a clean towel.
– Always take care to avoid your eyes. If you ever get the scrub in your eyes rinse out with warm water immediately.

Simple Ingredients for Simple Scrubs:

  1. 1 Teaspoon of raw honey and 1/2 a teaspoon of baking soda
  2. 1 Teaspoon of sugar (can be cane or granulated), 1 – 2 drops of water and 1 – 2 drops of orange, lemon or lavender oils. (Depending on your desired smells).
  3. 1 Tablespoon of coconut oil and 2 tablespoons on sugar (again can be cane or granulated).

These are just some of the possibilities for homemade face scrubs. Everybody’s skin is different so don’t be disheartened if the first one you try doesn’t work perfectly for you. You’ll find the right solution eventually :).
