Natural Remedies for Spots and Acne

It seems spots and acne like to make appearances at the worst times, and that’s mostly down to stress and anxiety – and being a university or college, you’re stressed and anxious more often than not. As a student, you want to spend your money wisely and save as much of it as you can, and spot cream and face scrubs don’t come cheap! Why not try some of these natural remedies for spots and acne?

Lemon Juice
Lemon juice is very acidic which is great for treating acne as it cleans out all the dirt in your pores! It might dry your skin out using it everyday but just using it once every few days will guarantee you noticeably clearer skin! Simply rub a little lemon juice on the affected areas and then leave for a few hours before washing it off.

Toothpaste
A pretty common acne hack! Toothpaste, when applied to the affected areas before bed, will dry out the acne overnight and reduce pain and swelling. You should be able to notice a difference in just a couple of days! Make sure you remember to wash it off in the morning before leaving the house…

Tea Tree Oil
Tea tree oil acts as an antiseptic and actually kills the bacteria that causes acne. Just apply a small amount to affected areas three times a day – dilute with water or aloe vera gel if you have particularly sensitive skin as tea tree oil can cause irritation.

Oatmeal
Who would have thought? Oatmeal masks are great at absorbing excess oil on the skin as well as cleaning pores. Mix a teaspoon of honey and lemon juice with cooked oatmeal and then rub over your face like a mask. Leave it on for 30 minutes before washing it off. Repeat once or twice a week.

Green Tea
Green tea has antioxidant compounds that can fight spots and acne. You can either use a cooled cup of green tea as a face wash or apply the bag to the affected area.
