So the excitement of the first few weeks of university is over, you have the dreaded freshers’ flu, the smell of morning breath is overpowering your flat and you’re finding it hard to stay motivated.

University can be the best experience of your life but everybody has times where they feel like it’s all getting a bit too much. It’s completely normal to have days where you just can’t seem to find motivation to stay at university…

Here are some tips to help you get through…

Don’t leave your assignments until the last minute

We’ve all had that sleepless night with 3 red bulls and staring at the computer screen trying to complete 1,000 words in 3 hours. But don’t do it. It’s not worth the pressure and you’ll regret it if you receive your grades and know you could have tried harder.

Make sure you get enough sleep

Everyone gets a bit grouchy when they haven’t had enough sleep and it can make you feel really low and pessimistic about things if you’re tired.

If you’re one of the unlucky ones who struggles to get that much needed beauty sleep, a few tips for you – avoid afternoon naps, exercise daily, challenge yourself to stay awake and stop writing a to-do list whilst you’re in bed!

Talk about it

If you’re struggling with university work, can’t get on with your flat mates or just genuinely having a tough time then don’t stay quiet, talk to somebody about it. Video chat friends and family at home for some reassurance.
If you don’t feel comfortable doing that, then most universities have people who will sit down and talk through all of your options and help you through your problems. Ask the questions and get some help.
