Considering Chelou is an unsigned act yet to put out his debut LP, he’s had a multitude of coverage including Dazed, The Wall Street Journal & i-D to Wonderland, Notion and DIY Magazine. He has been championed by the likes Lauren Laverne, Tom Ravenscroft on BBC Radio 6 and Annie Mac, Huw Stephens, Phil Taggart & Mistajam at Radio 1.
Mount Kimbie – Marilyn
Their new album ‘Love What Survives’ is incredible. On my speakers every day at the moment.
Bastien Keb (Feat. Cappo) – Fit Rare
Bastien Keb is one of my favourite discoveries of this year, he’s got such an original sound going. The synth intro on this track reminds me of The Exorcist theme tune.
Pieta Brown – Do You Know
There’s something about her voice which is really uplifting, puts a smile on my face every time I listen.
Maya Jane Coles (Feat. Chelou) – Darkside
This is my feature on Maya’s new album ‘Take Flight’. I love working on stuff that takes me out of my comfort zone musically and its always new and interesting with her.
David Bowie – Lazarus
We’ve lost some truly great artists recently. The lyrics in this song as so poignant in hindsight of his passing.
Ricoshei – Perfect Like You
Its that time of the year where you get cold and lonely and this song kinda sums that up in one.
Mr Jukes ft. BJ The Chicago Kid – Angles, Your Love
The production and groove on this track is something else. Was such a fan of Bombay Bicycle Club and love the shift in sound on his new material.
Tame Impala – Let It Happen (Soulwax Remix)
Love Tame Impalas production and this just enhances everything.
Feist – Wish I Didn’t Miss You
Feist are one of my favourite artists and this is just a beautifully stripped back tune. When the distorted tremolo comes in over the vocal, it gives me goosebumps.
Chelou – Damned Eye See
For this track, I returned to the original way of producing and songwriting that I began Chelou with. I think there’s a warmth to this track despite the negativity of the lyrics, which I hope others do to!
