Singer-songwriter AMiR from North London shares how his burning passion for music has lead him to his musical career and the great things we should be expecting from him in the near future…
Q1. Hi Amir, thanks so much for taking the time to speak with us! What have you been up to recently?
I’ve been in the studio writing more songs and gigging at various radio events and small festivals. Everything seems to be going well atm.
Q2. For anyone who hasn’t heard of yourself yet, can you give us a bit of an insight into yourself and your music?
I’m just a musician from London heavily influenced by Michael Jackson, george michael and the like. I’d say funk/soul rnb pop.
Q3. How was your journey into the music industry?
I’ve been a singer and musician my whole life. I don’t remember wanting anything else ever. So it’s been a slow journey with a lot of bumps in the road but it’s been fun! What an experience!
Q4. Who inspires you?
Michael Jackson, George Michael James brown, Eminem, craig David, oasis, foo fighters. I love all music and depending on my mood is what I listen to, but when I’m writing I’m driven by my experiences in life, and lack of. haha.
Q5. Where’s your favorite place around the world to be?
Really hard to answer that question. I’ve been to a lot of places, and I’m built for tour life. If I’m surrounded with my friends then anywhere. But when I went to LA and Miami, it was an amazing experience. So I’ll say them. London is home though.
Q6. If you could choose to collaborate with any other artist, who would it be?
Right now I would say Anne Marie or Charlie Puth I’m liking at the moment.
Q7. Any advice for people who feel they are being shackled by the expectations of their family & heritage?
It only exists because you allow it to. Be you! Job done.
Q8. When you’re not in the studio making your own music, what music do you listen to?
I love all kinds of music. Right now I’m listening to a lot of old earth wind and fire, the whispers old disco stuff. Love that vibe.
Q9. What are your plans for the rest of this year?
Writing and recording and hopefully a few live appearances around the UK.
