1. Treat Yourself

The concept of the reward system is one that has been proven effective time and time again. If you have something you are looking forward to, such as a chat with your friend after completing the next chapter, then you are going to work harder to reach the goal.

You can even set loftier goals, such as attending a party at the end of the week. The key is to give yourself something exciting and fun as a reward for meeting your study goals.

2. Use Video

Are you a visual learner? Even if you aren’t, there’s no question that the power of video can be extremely impactful when it comes to studying.

3. Study by Yourself

Think about the last time you studied with a “study buddy” or even a group. Were you productive? Did you get sidetracked a lot? If so, this is a surefire sign that you should study alone.

If you only have a short amount of time to get your studying in, then the best thing you can do is study alone. This will help ensure you make the most of the time you have.

4. Snack During an Exam

If you are hungry while taking a test, you aren’t going to be focused on what you are doing. If the class allows it (and most will) take along a snack to have on hand, just in case. You want to be able to focus on what you are doing and what you have studied, rather than your growling stomach.

One tip for your in-class snack – be respectful of others. Don’t take along something exceptionally loud or smelly!

5. Teach Someone What You are Studying

Experts have said that you can actually learn more when you teach someone else. That is (probably) because you are going to be explaining the concepts, rather than just memorizing them. After all, if you are able to teach something, chances are you really know your stuff.unnamed

6. Write it Down – Then Rewrite It

There’s no question that a great way to learn something is by writing it down. However, you can’t just expect to do this once and be good to go. Instead, write the information over and over again. When you write this again and again you will be able to easily soak up the concepts and really understand what you are studying.

If you have limited time to study, it doesn’t mean you need to avoid doing it altogether. The tips here will help you effectively study and learn something new, without reducing the time you have for your other responsibilities. Being a successful student isn’t impossible, it just requires a bit of strategic thinking from time to time.
