A wee jaunt down the Cowgate brings you to Stramash. It is massive! Massive stage, massive bands, massive sound and a big bouncing dancefloor filled with lovely big smiles. The screen that shows all
major sporting events is the biggest in Edinburgh. There’s excellent live music on every night of the week and the kitchen serves up freshly prepared food until midnight. There’s no other venue like it in Edinburgh so get down for a look. (Cheeky drinks deals on Monday – Thursday too)
Wind your way up Hasties close and you are in Hidden Night Club Heaven…. First stop – La Belle Angele. This legendary space has played host to an abundance of musical heroes throughout its
history. It can bounce a dancefloor with the best of them. There are no genres here – just a big alternative space run by music lovers for music lovers. Where those in the know come to party.

Next up – The Mash House. A literal hidden gem. Halfway up the steps of Hastie’s Close, this alternative party spot bangs the drum for all thing’s music. 3 floors of gigs, clubs, random events, dance classes, art – it’s basically a breeding ground for creative talent.
Leaving the Cowgate (but only slightly) – wander up Niddry Street to The Globe. An underground fun palace of all things Sport. Showing just about every sporting event you could possibly ask for on the
many screens and serving beers from across the globe (get it now?). With a top quiz night on Monday, Karaoke Thursdays and DJ’s all weekend!
Trip up the hill and just next door is the mighty Whistlebinkies. Open every night until the wee small hours providing quality live music all night. Housed deep in the vaults under South Bridge, both
locals and visitors congregate to sample the finest Scotland has to offer, from bands to beers. Boasting an extensive drinks list and an eclectic line up, there really is something for everyone. There’s an Open Mic every Monday hosted by Chris Buckley of The Moaning Bones and its free entry every night. What more could you want?
