Summer is probably the best time to visit Budapest, not only because of the three-month summer festival but also because the city’s ‘beaches’ officially open during this season.

Summer in Budapest is hot, and nothing is more refreshing than wading in open-air pools or soaking in Turkish baths. It is also the best time to cruise the Danube and enjoy the panoramic view of the riversides. On weekends, the Liberty Bridge closes to give way to the summer festival activities, which include picnics, yoga sessions, and open-air concerts. If you’ve come for the festival, it’s best to book your taxi back to Ferenc Liszt Airport in advance to you don’t get caught up in all the fun, run out of money and become unable to get to the airport to catch your flight. Budapest International is a little way out of the city, so it’s worth taking that into consideration whilst planning the break.
