Leaving school behind for a few months to go on a summer holiday is the desire of every university student. After a busy year of deadlines and exams, everyone certainly deserves a break.

Unfortunately, most students can’t afford to splurge out on a summer holiday and would rather spend it at home. But, fret not. Just because you’re on a budget does not mean that a summer holiday is off the cards. There are tons of budget-friendly holidays out there that are catered to students like you and here are some of them.

  1. Alicante

Alicante is a gorgeous city on the south-eastern coast of Spain that’s famous for its beautiful beaches and incredibly cheap nightlife. The city also offers tons of free activities for visitors to enjoy. In the middle of the city, you’ll find ancient old castles sitting on top of a hill. Climb to the top and enjoy the sweeping views of the sea from above.

Although it’s possible to explore Alicante’s attractions on foot, you may need to rent cheap a car from Alicante airport to get to your hotel in the city. When you’re in the city centre, anything can be reached on foot so taking public transport is not necessary. The car comes in use for getting to some of the tourist places that are a bit further out of the centre, during the day. The castles, hills, marina, beaches, and the best bars and pubs are all centrally located.

  1. Stockholm

Although Stockholm is an expensive city, you could snag a cheap flight from London to Stockholm for as low as £25, making it a great destination for students on a budget. The museums and attractions in Stockholm are not as expensive as you might think them to be. In fact, most of these sights offer discounted fees to students.

The International Student Identity Card is widely accepted in the city. This card offers student discounts on food, transportation, sights, and accommodations. So, don’t forget to bring this card if you have one.

  1. Amsterdam

The city offers plenty of incredible things to see and do for students who are interested in culture and arts. It’s home to lots of great museums, such as the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, and the House of Anne Frank.

Dubbed the bicycle capital of the world, the best way to get around Amsterdam is on a bike, which is also a great way to save money. So spend your day cycling around the city to visit its famous sights. If you have plenty of time, go on an extended holiday to cycle around Holland from Amsterdam. A good tip if you decide to cycle or motorcycle around Holland that remember to get a holiday travel insurance that covers motorcycling and cycling specifically as regular travel insurance will probably not cover these. The cheapest way to reach Amsterdam is to travel by coach. Although it takes half a day, it’s truly worth it.

Zante has a reputation for being a party island. This Greek Island is home to a wide range of resorts, with great restaurants and tons of bars and pubs. But there’s more to Zante than the vibrant nightlife.
