Olivia Attwood and Joey Essex join forces with Malibu Rum to bring #GoodVibesOnly to Freshers. Malibu has partnered with the fun-loving celebrities to spread the word on how freshers can keep safe this year

This October, TV stars Olivia Attwood and Joey Essex, are teaming up with Malibu rum to bring #GoodVibesOnly to Freshers, spreading awareness of how students can keep safe as they start university life.

Malibu believes that nobody should have to worry on a night out and are thrilled to bring Olivia and Joey into its ‘Mali-crew’ to spread awareness of how students can experience #GoodVibesOnly. Malibu’s ethos is around Doing Whatever Tastes Good, living in the moment and enjoying life to its fullest, but at the same time feeling comfortable and being safe, whilst having fun.

The campaign is especially pertinent as research from Malibu rum, which polled Gen-Z’ers to get their view of modern-day nights out highlighted that being safe while out is important to 73 percent of those polled. Nine in ten (91 percent) claimed that they’ve felt vulnerable while on a night out in the past.

With this in mind, and in a bid to increase safety for students, Malibu has secured 11,000 £10 Uber discount vouchers with Uber for students, as well as putting on Malibu Tuk Tuks to get students home from Revolution in Newcastle, Sheffield, Cardiff, and Liverpool. It has also partnered with Vita Coco, to give away free coconut water to students enjoying nights out in these cities at Popworld and Revolution, to keep them hydrated in coconut style.

Malibu is partnering with Good Night Out, the campaign for safer nightlife, who have provided its ambassadors and bartenders across the UK with their specialist training programme on understanding, responding to and preventing sexual harassment and assault on nights out. These ambassadors will also be within Freshers venues across the country.

Joey and Olivia will spread the #GoodVibesOnly vibes further, by launching Malibu’s #GoodVibesOnly Awards to reward those mates who go the extra mile in making sure their crew are supported on a night out. Whether it’s the friend who knows the best spot in town for post-night out pizza, the pal who always checks you got home safely, or the mate who gives you a much-needed bathroom pep-talk, give them the spotlight they deserve by heading over to the Malibu Instagram page @maliburumuk. They could win the chance to enjoy a fun night out with their friends, being picked up and dropped off in a limousine, in true ‘A-lister’ style.

Joey Essex says, “There’s nothing more I enjoy than a night out with friends, and when Malibu came calling to ask Olivia and I to be part of its Mali-crew we jumped at the chance. It’s so important for uni students to stay safe as they enjoy nights out, and it’s brilliant to see Malibu shining a light on safety through its #GoodVibesOnly campaign”

Olivia Attwood added, “We’ve all got that one friend who is ‘Mum’ or ‘Dad’ on a night out, looking after everyone else and making sure they make it safely home. We’re looking forward to rewarding those mates who go above and beyond with Malibu’s #GoodVibesOnly Awards – so whether it’s knowing the best spot for late-night pizza or giving a great bathroom mid-night pep talk, make sure you give your friends the spotlight they deserve and nominate them for our awards!”
