Future Talent Awards

Whether you’re new to Belfast or just haven’t discovered the haven that is the MAC yet, this is your space to connect to others (and yourself) whilst studying in the city.

Shortlisted for Art Fund’s Museum of the Year award 2023, the world’s largest museum prize, the MAC is an arts centre in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter (right beside the St Anne’s Cathedral!). We’re a space for all kinds of exhibitions, performances, experimental works and endless goings-on.

SPACE FOR YOU

An excellent place to study, relax or catch up on reading in the heart of the city, the MAC is a safe space where you’ll feel at home whilst also feeling inspired by the art, creativity, and community here. You’ll find lots of nooks and crannies around the building to open your laptop or relax with a coffee.

Our three art galleries have been home to international up-and-coming artists like Ambera Wellman (2021), established names like David Hockney (2016), world-renowned artists like Ron Mueck (2022), and local artists like Louise Wallace (2023). Our galleries are free to visit Tuesday – Sunday, 11am – 5pm with Late Night Art on the first Thursday of every month when they stay open until 9pm. We hold exhibition previews throughout the year too – just keep an eye on our socials for updates.

Our two stages are home to international acts as well as celebrating local talent and we partner with Belfast’s biggest arts festivals like Belfast International Arts Festival and Outburst Queer Arts Festival who bring acts to Belfast from all over the world. From comedy to immersive theatre to music gigs, discover something new in your city. Keep up to date with what’s on.

FUEL YOUR IMAGINATION

In between lectures you’ll need something delicious and filling to keep you going. Our Café has something for everyone from pancakes to Baghdad eggs to tacos and burrito bowls. Plus, half of our all-day menu (available 9am – 3.30pm, Tuesday – Sunday) is vegan or vegetarian.
