We’ve all been there; you’ve had to stay up late getting a paper done, or you’ve been been out partying into the early hours, and now you have to be awake for something kind of important. Sometimes you have to grin and bare it through a hangover, but no body said you have to look bad doing it. So here are my simple, and quick tips to look wide awake, bright and ready for the day when you just want to crawl back to bed…

Illuminating Concealer

illuminating concealer can hide a multitude of sins, my friend. Pick yourself up a cheapy on the high street like the Seventeen Skin WOW Concealer, or the YSL Touche Éclat (depending on how spendy you’re feeling) and get swiping it on. Just a couple of swipes under the eyes, and blended out with the fingertips, will give your face a whole new lease of life and convince everyone you got your beauty sleep.

Nude Eyeliner

Any makeup artist will tell you, one of the quickest ways to brighten the eyes after a long night is to pop a line of nude liner across the waterline of the eye. My favourite, which just happens to also be super affordable, is the Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal Eyeliner in the shade Nude. Simply run this across your waterline and watch your eyes instantly appear more awake and wider.

Bananas

When you’re feeling rough the last thing you want is a huge, heavy breakfast to weigh you down and make you more sluggish, so a banana is a great option. If you have been drinking the night before you’ll be pleased to know that bananas replace potassium and lost electrolytes after a big night out. Nourish your body, and give yourself the kick of energy you need to get going.

Organisation

There is nothing worse than having to scrabble around in the morning trying to find everything you need for a day of lectures ahead of you. So make like your mum and pack your bag the night before. It seems completely pointless, and a bit over-kill, but you’ll thank me when you can just grab your bag and go (which of course means extra moments in bed too!).

Water

And finally, the giver of life; water. Skin, eyes and lips can look sallow and dull after a long night, so it’s important to hydrate. Grab a glass whilst you’re getting ready and toss a bottle of it in your bag to sip on the way to uni. Not only will it make you feel better, but it will make a serious improvement to your skin’s glow factor and make you appear more awake in no time.
So there you have my top tips for faking that wide awake, got-it-together look after a big night.
