Fay Greaves Interview | The Traitors

What made you decide to apply to be on The Traitors show?

I had been doing my job for 30 years and knew that I wanted to try something different.

What was the audition process like?

It was very rigorous and lengthy.

Upon being accepted onto the show, what were your expectations, and how did they compare to real-life experiences?

Abodus - Live until 29th Sep 24

None of us knew what to expect, so we didn’t have any expectations as this was a totally new concept to television. I knew I was going into the castle to be myself and to enjoy the experience.

How did your previous experience and skillset best prepare you for the show?

Working in the education sector can be challenging at times and this gave me a big advantage when working with others in high-pressure situations. Also, my years playing and coaching basketball made me a team player. This was helpful when it came to the missions.

What are your favourite memories from being on The Traitors?

I very much loved taking part in all of the missions; winning the ‘Shield’ on one occasion was the highlight for me, as it protected whoever had it from ‘Murder’ in the night.

The Traitors is the ultimate game of deception. What did you learn or take away from your experience on the show?

That you certainly can’t judge a book by its cover and to be very careful who you trust.

Have you kept in touch with any of the other contestants?

I have kept in touch with about a handful of the contestants.

You made it to the 10th round of the first season. Are you proud of yourself for getting so far, and would you have done anything different, given the time back?

I was very proud of my achievements as some of the contestants went home in the first week. Also, I was being myself the whole time.  The only thing I would have done differently is to keep some of my off-screen thoughts and plans to myself.  As the night I was murdered I had disclosed to Wilf that I had it all mapped out and could nearly identify the ‘Traitors’.

How badly did you want to win?

I wasn’t desperate to win for me, it was more for the students I worked with at school, as I was going to take them on an amazing trip to Disneyland Europe. This was documented in the show.

How far can you see The Traitors series going in the future, and how might it adapt in your opinion?

I can see the show going for sometime and I personally wouldn’t want to see too much change, as the formula works.

Outside of The Traitors show you are a campaigner and ambassador. Can you talk to us more about your exciting projects and what you aim to achieve through this work?

I am a campaigner for the NSPCC, an Ambassador for Ripple Suicide Prevention and Dallaglio Rugby Works. I am also a board member for ELEMENTS which is an organisation which supports children with Social Emotional Mental Health issues. All of these organisations can be found on Google to find out more about their missions and goals. My aim is to use my platform to make others aware of the good work these organisations are doing to support young and vulnerable people.

How can existing and new fans of the show support you?

They can follow me on my socials @radiogirlz

What is next for you?

My next focus is to make a documentary on certain areas relating to vulnerable children and to hopefully do some more TV work. Watch this space!!
